Is it worth buying a coffee machine?

Coffee is the third most consumed beverage in the world after water and tea. Many people cannot start their day without having a cup of coffee. And if you are a coffee lover, you are certainly tempted to get a coffee machine for yourself to avoid longstanding queues of cafes and unwanted time and energy wasted in getting a coffee.

But is it worth buying a coffee machine? In this article, we are going to discuss some points that will help you decide if you want to consider getting a coffee machine or not.

Reasons to get a coffee machine:

There is a lot to consider when purchasing a coffee machine. But most of the decisions have to deal with preference, cost, and convenience.

Saves you Money: If you are a regular coffee drinker, getting a coffee machine can be like purchasing an asset for the long run. You will save a significant amount of money because you will be able to make your favourite beverage at home without going to overpriced cafes.

Although you will have to settle for the upfront cost of buying a coffee machine which will differ from type to model, as well as the pods/capsules, ground coffee, or beans- you are still likely to end up with a cheaper cup of joe than buying it in cafes.

Convenience:

Let us be honest nobody likes waiting. Instead of getting a quick jolt of energy, you end up exhausting yourself more, standing in a long queue at the cafes. Getting a coffee machine will save you a lot of effort and time. It is more convenient than going for a coffee run.

Some machines even have an app. So, you can order a drink right from your mobile device.

Types of coffee:

Not every pricey barista can prepare a coffee for you that pleases your preference. With coffee machines at your disposal, you will have variety in types of coffee and brands to choose from. You can be your barista and make a cup of coffee that will suit your taste.

Plus, you can tailor your favourite beverage in any way you want by experimenting with flavors and ratios, and have some fun, too.

Extra features:

Do you remember when coffee machines were large, heavy creatures that took up more space than ‘80s computers? Their designs have upgraded quite a bit since the old days, and their features have improved as well.

Coffee machines have a programmable setting of brewing at a specific time, keep warm or auto-shutoff, or a thermal carafe to keep your drink warm. Higher-end coffee makers might even include features like milk frothing, bean grinding, and notifications when the coffee machine needs to be cleaned.

Reasons not to get a coffee machine:

Maintenance:

You don’t want to risk getting a low-cost machine as the taste might lower with cheaper machines. Good quality machines are somewhat expensive.

The maintenance on some of these hefty-priced machines can be messy and make you wonder why did you buy them at all.

Space:

If you are short on counter space, then it is probably a bad idea to get a coffee maker because these big boys can take up a lot of space.

While these kinds of coffee machines would fit in a shop, they probably wouldn’t play nicely in a medium home.

Occasional drinker:

If you are not a regular coffee drinker and know that your coffee machine is likely to sit and collect dust, then getting a coffee machine may not necessarily make sense.

Unless you are okay with- having another expensive unused appliance.

Conclusion

So, is it worth getting a coffee machine? More often than not, owning a personal coffee maker is well worth the cost. When you consider the convenience, time and effort saved and perhaps most of all the money, then getting the machine seems to make perfect sense.

If you don’t want to buy- an expensive coffee machine, that probably takes a lot of maintenance and time to learn the function completely. For ease of use, getting single-serve coffee machines is- much more favorable. They are easy to use, usually pretty small, and quick to get your drink in minutes. Some of these single-serve coffee machines also have reusable coffee pods and are also compatible with off-brand reusable coffee pods.
